Major Settlements

  1. Crystalwatch
  • Situated to the East of The Beholding Bluff is this seafaring town. Given the frigid water conditions, this settlement is not as bountiful as you might expect but is considered a tourist destination. Many travel across the breadth of The Frostbreath Fields in order to watch where the dancing auroras stretch across the water to meet the distant glow of volcanic activity. Few brave The Whispering Strait leaving Moonband and instead have to either sail in from Roguedrift or traverse The Beholding Bluff to get there.
    • Iwe serves as a sort of Captain of the guard. With how many tourists come and go, her service is mostly spent keeping the people safe rather than other more political pursuits.
  1. Ashshore
  • Originally named for the Walsnora Bay and the river, when the eastern winds brought the falling ash further west the settlement was forced to abandon structures in to build new ones in that direction. This town holds one of four entrances into Deephold and are entrusted to screen travellers to help safeguard it. Edgetown is their “sister city” and outsiders often get the two confused thanks to their likeness.
    • Your greeter, your tour guide, and your person of interest here is Gaelira Keldan. This elven woman has been here since the town’s original establishment and her perseverance even after needing to retreat East is what has earned her this position.
  1. Edgetown
  • Also victim to the drifting ash, they are forced to watch as now abandoned structures are buried under this “black snow”. This city is also seen as the most common stepping stone for those coming in and out of Cruel Haven.
    • Urzoth is the people’s go to problem solver. She is known to be a quick judge of character and skill and well trusted by the settlement.
  1. Snowmelt
  • Well known for the countless fresh, meltwater streams causing the need for intricate drainage systems and aqueducts that artistically decorate all outdoor walkways. This is also considered a holy place for funerary send offs which has only seemed to aggravate the edges of The Whispering Plains.
    • This title gets handed around in a way the name never changes, and it’s hard to tell just who exactly is the current title bearer to outsiders. Scam Dimriver is known to handle the major issues around the settlement even if outsiders don’t quite get what they expected.
      1. Eastdrift
  • Sitting atop The Unresting Peak, this veritable fortress built to visually appear as natural from a distance. Spires and walls will only get you so far, but it’s the pieces of the original mountain face fashioned into roofs paired with a system of nets solidify being hidden.
    • Nigar is the people’s representative. He is who you contact with any issues, and who currently functions as a sort of leader.
  1. Deephold
  • Unlike any of the other settlements, this one is actually built within an old dragon’s lair. Their temple also houses a statue of and the bones of this dragon, basically worshiped right alongside the gods. Dwarven architecture has turned what used to be a nest and hoard of a barren mother into a bustling hub that branches out into cave systems of The Hopeless Tops.
    • Ola, The Gentle was an ancient sapphire dragon and is entombed within the temple.
    • Ualinfel is the people’s representative and the caretaker of the temple. She has a knack for rooting out problems as if she’s able to hear the people’s prayers.
  1. Whiteview
  • Named after the glacial plain that the settlement is posted on, this establishment uniquely has to fortify for the sweeping winds. One of few places not connected to the water’s edge or mountain peaks, most people don’t give it much thought for anything other than a pitstop while traveling.
    • Avalan is the people’s representative and the pioneer on their way of living. She can be found doing jobs around the settlement and is rarely in one place for very long.
  1. Dragonfrost
  • Nestled between the twin peaks Peonniot Rise and Cersuss Summit with it’s northern side being protected by The Charmed Highlands. These natural fortifications made it a hot spot for dragon lairs since time immemorial, and is the reason behind it’s naming. Since the founding of this settlement, any dragons nesting nearby have come to become integral parts of daily life.
    • Claug Tostyn is this generation’s Warden. He is perhaps young for this post in comparison to Wardens past, but is perhaps the most protective one because of it.
  1. Moonband
  • A fishing community despite the cold and entirely self sufficient. Founded by an elven man long since lost to time, stepping foot into this settlement can socially feel like stepping back in time. Even if methods, technology, and means of survival are current, Junan has taught ever child raised here how to behave. His many centuries of life may be able to adapt to outside forces, but he refuses to evolve past how things were at the time of founding.
    • This establishment was founded by Junan’s companion and he aspires to keep it running smoothly.
  1. Roguedrift
  • Rather than taking the peak like Eastdrift, Roguedirft is much better compared to an ant colony. Winding tunnels, shafts, naturally made caverns and springs, and well guarded from both threats and the elements.
    • The man to see is Thatdraes Mountainfoot. He is who maintains the way of life and helps guide against structural and security deficits.
